The power of visitation is well documented. As the details of God's destiny for the patriarchal family accelerate, so do the divine visitations: the Angel of the LORD met Hagar in crisis in Genesis 16, Abraham enjoyed an unmediated visit with the LORD in Genesis 17, but for the matriarch, Sarah's benefit, the LORD reappears with two angelic beings here in Genesis 18. The heavenly entourage has arrived in order to make an announcement. How does the patriarchal family host the guests? How do they respond to the entourage's announcement? Have we placed limitations on God?
