As we inspect the fruit of the Spirit this Summer, this week, we delve into the challenging virtue of patience. Drawing from Galatians 5:22-23, we see patience as a quality that profoundly affects our human relationships. The Old Testament concept of God having a 'long nose' - slow to anger - provides a vivid image of divine patience. As children of God, we're called to cultivate this same patience in our lives. The parable of the unforgiving servant in Matthew 18 serves as a powerful reminder: having received infinite patience from our Father, we're obligated to extend patience to others. This message challenges us to examine our hearts and actions. Are we quick to retaliate when wronged, or do we reflect God's long-suffering nature? In a world that often glorifies swift retribution, we're invited to stand out by embodying Christ-like patience, even in the face of persecution and provocation.
