James: Ethics For Living in the Empire - James 2:1-13

Favoritism that advantages some and discrimination that disadvantages others is always wrong and sinful. The effects of chronic discrimination lead to poor overall health outcomes and impacts mortality rates. James passionately reasons: the remedy to favoritism and discrimination is one half of the Great Commandment, which is to love your neighbor as yourself. How we love our rich and poor neighbors speaks volumes for how we understand our God and gives us a glimpse into what we can expect on Judgment Day.
